Genesis 1:2

Ge 1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

God initially created the world empty, then filled it step by step to show us how much care He takes in our lives.

Genesis 1:1

Ge 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
God is the creator and we are merely the creations. As creator, He has the authority to write the rules. This also militates against Gnostic teaching that God created a god that created the earth.

why?

I've decided to start a blog to go through the Bible. The reason for the title is that so many times that I've tried to read through it, I've wanted to throw it across the room in frustration due to either my inability to think about what I'm reading or because it's been so long since I've opened it up, so I'm hoping that posting here will at least get me to read a verse a day and think enough to write a comment on it.
